History

Incorportated: Nov. 22, 1882, open May 1, 1883, by leasing the Belt Division of Chicago & Western Indiana RR. On Nov. 11, 1912, by reorganization, extended ownership to other railroads. Acquired, Sept, 2, 1912, the Chicago Union Transfer Rwy. Acquired in 1933, the Burlington South Chicago Terminal Rwy. On Aug. 15, 1962, purchased all property that was being leased.
